| Authentic traditional holiday cottages on La Palma, Canary Islands | ||
| Many holiday cottages on La Palma have been converted from old traditional style Canarian houses and still retain an authentic feel and important features of traditional design. Examples include the traditional style of wooden roofing whereby the hardwood beams and planks are a feature on the inside with traditional (style) roofing tiles can de seen on the outside. In some cases the original tea (te-a) wood has been retained. The tea wood is the heartwood from the Canarian Pine and was used in building roofs, floors, doors, windows and furniture. In some cases the traditional tea-wood window seats, windows and doors have been restored. The authentic houses have walls built of local stone and are usually at least 50cm thick.  From January until the end of February the thousands of almond trees on La Palma are in blossom.The main almond areas are Puntagorda, Las Tricias and Tijarafe. | Summer holidays on La Palma. | ||
| Many people think that La Palma is only for winter-sun holidays. Nothing could be further from the truth. Summertime is an excellent time to visit La Palma. The temperatures are pleasantly warm and not too hot. La Palma does not have the unbearable summer heat waves typical of any Mediterranean areas. Good weather, it rarely rains and the temperatures are between 22C and 30C In the summer months there are village festivals and other activities .. all outside of course. | ||

| La Palma is an excellent location for a winter-sun holiday, especially on the western side of the island. There the temperatures are almost always pleasantly warm and not too hot. Away from the coast the evenings may be cool. In winter the conditions are good for walking the many hundreds of miles of officially marked walking paths. Nature is at its greenest and there are always flowers in bloom. | ||
