| La Palma is famous for its almond trees, almond products and, of course, in between Christmas and Easter the almond trees flower abundantly creating a fairy-tale effect. The almond trees grow mainly on the hills and valleys above about 300 metres above sea level. The main areas are Las Tricias, Puntagorda, Tijarafe, La Punta and El Paso. The flowering period varies form year to year, place to place and dependent on the variety but in general the first almonds come into flower just after Christmas in Las Tricias and Puntagorda and are finished in March. The almond trees in Tijarafe and El Paso are usually a few weeks later, in some years the will even last until early June in the El Paso area. The white flowered varieties generally start first with the slightly pinker varieties a little later The houses listed below are all in areas where the almond trees grow. |

 From January until the end of February the thousands of almond trees on La Palma are in blossom.The main almond areas are Puntagorda, Las Tricias and Tijarafe. | Many people think that La Palma is only for winter-sun holidays. Nothing could be further from the truth. Summertime is an excellent time to visit La Palma. The temperatures are almost always pleasantly warm and not too hot. La Palma does not have the unbearable summer heat waves typical of any Mediterranean areas. Good weather, it rarely rains and the temperatures are between 22C and 30C In the summer months there are village festivals and other activities .. all outside of course. | ||
